If the new, redesigned Flickr with 1 terabyte of free storage is any indication of the way Marissa Mayer is going to run things, I am more than OK with their acquisition of Tumblr. Damn.

I was seriously thinking of jumping ship to 500px and only posting my best stuff there, but I have thousands of photos stored on Flickr. Many are snapshots but also cherished memories. The thought of backing all of them up or using their subpar print partner Snapfish made me want to take a nap in a pillow fort every time I thought of it. (I had 3 external hard drives shit the bed on me so it’s unclear whether I have all of my originals that live on Flickr.
But maybe I’ll stay a while yet. Those bonus three months they gave pro users impressed me, too.
I’m still sitting here a little stunned. Why should I keep my Pro account? But if I switch to free then it is “irreversible.”

I’m curious how this plays out. It really does look beautiful.
It feels somehow wrong to get pictures of my new nephew in a mass family text before his mama has even seen him.
